The parish offers a broad spectrum of styles of worship to suit the Anglican and Methodist traditions practiced across the churches. The services listed below are those normally scheduled at the churches within the parish. Actual services times may vary and are identified on the Calendar of Services. Sunday Services 9:00 am at St Bartholomew's Early Morning Holy Communion (BCP): Every first Sunday, a service according to the Book of Common Prayer with a sermon lasting approximately ten minutes. Hymns are sometimes sung. Early morning Holy Communion: Every third Sunday , a quiet service of Holy Communion using 'Order One' from the Common Worship service book. There is a sermon of approximately ten minutes. 9:30 am at St Andrew's Childrens' Church: On the second Sunday of each month children's spirituality is developed through the medium of 'Godly Play'. Accompanied children to hear a story and wonder about it and share a 'feast'. On the fourth Sunday of each month children listen to a bible story and sing some songs appropriate for their age. 10:00 am at St Mary's Morning Service: A service of Morning Prayer using the Common Worship prayer book with hymns from Hymns Ancient & Modern, and Junior Praise. Every third Sunday the service is Holy Communion. 10:30 am at St Andrew's Morning Service: Weekly services or worship include hymns and a sermon. Each service may be lead by Anglican or Methodist minister. 10:30 am at St Bartholomew's All Age Worship: Every first Sunday, this service is suitable for both children and adults, and sometimes contains drama and practical activities as well as a short talk. Music is led by a small all-age orchestra. Morning Service: A service of Common Worship, with music. On the second and fourth Sundays of the month it is Holy Communion; on the third Sunday it is Morning Prayer. 10:30 am Joint Parish Service: On the fifth Sunday of a month, all three congregations in the parish join together at 10.30 am for a service of Holy Communion. Check the calendar for venue details. 6:00 pm at St Bartholomew's Holy Communion: Every first Sunday, the service follows the Common Worship prayer book with hymns and a sermon. Evening Prayer: A service with hymns, and a sermon. On the first Sunday of the month this is normally a service of Holy Communion. On the second Sunday of the month the Common Worship order of service is used whilst on the third Sunday the Book of Common Prayer is used. The fourth Sunday varies. Sung Evensong (BCP): Every third Sunday a service according to the Book of Common Prayer with hymns and a sermon. A psalm is said and the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis are sung.
Wednesday Services8:30 am at St Bartholomew's Morning Prayer: Join us for a service following Common Worship. 9:30 am at St Bartholomew's Holy Communion: Celebrated using Common Worship. 4:30 pm at St Andrew's Evening Prayer: An informal service following the Common Worship order of worship. |
