What does it mean to be a Christian?
Christian life is lived in relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and in common with other Christians in the church seeking to deepen that relationship and to follow the way that Jesus taught.
For Christians God is understood and known as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
…Father… God is love, caring for creation and for every human being as God's beloved child.
…Son… God is as he has revealed himself to be in the historical person of Jesus Christ. Jesus' life, death and resurrection holds the key to knowing and loving God, and to making sense of life, before and after death.
…and Holy Spirit… God is alive, loving and active today, inspiring faith, justice and truth, sustaining the life of the world, giving spiritual gifts to the church and bearing his spiritual fruit in the world - changed lives and a transformed society.

"HANDING ON THE TORCH ... Sacred words for a secular world"
This Lent course, produced by York Courses, has been chosen by Churches Together in Kirby Muxloe and Leicester Forest East as the basis of our bible study during the period of Lent 2012. Several courses will be run throughout each week in the homes of members of both the Parish Churches and Kirby Muxloe Free Church.
Details of the meetings will follow shortly. Contact the church office for details of addresses and leaders of groups.
The following brief synopsis may help to understand the nature and objectives of the course:
"Christianity os the largest movement our word has ever seen. It continues to grow at an immense pace - especially in Asia (including China), Africa and Latin America. At the same time, Christianity is the West struggles to grow and - perhaps - even t survive. In this course we consider some of the reasons for this and what it might mean for individual Christians, for churches and for Western culture, in a world where alternative beliefs are increasingly on offer."
Session 1 - A Christian Country? Session 2 - A Secular Society? Session 3 - A Beleaguered Church? Session 4 - Competing Creeds? Session 5 - Handing on the Torch |

Saturday, 25th February 2012
This is the ideal opportunity to rise to the challenge of giving an extra two hours to God, starting at 10.00am at St Andrew’s church.
This will be a time of worship, quiet teaching and meditation based on the theme “The Cross of Jesus”. It also combines with a chance to spend time with like minded people in a period of fellowship.
All are welcome at St Andrew's church where the worship will be lead by Lay Readers David Lucas and Denise Wright. |
