The Chernobyl Affected Children Charity is a local charity (charity number 1084681) run by Colin and Linda Newbold out of their home in Kirby Muxloe. Colin and Linda arrange transport to Belarus two or three times a year to deliver household goods, 'good as new' clothes and other everyday items to those in need in that country. Distribution of the goods in Belarus is organised by a Baptist pastor and members of his church. Each November, amongst its load, the lorry carries approximately 2000 show-box presents for the children of Belarus. As a parish we have been involved with this charity for several years. The items we suggest for inclusion in the shoe boxes are toiletries, hair brushes, combs, toothbrushes and toothpaste, face flannels, dried fruit, chocolate, woollen hats, scarves, gloves, socks, pencils, pens, notebooks and, of course, small toys for children of the appropriate age. We request that the show boxes are wrapped in Christmas paper (but unsealed for customs inspection) and marked whether they are for a boy or girl and of approximately what age. Donations towards this effort are also warmly welcomed. Please gift aid your donation if possible |
