The Parish Churches of Kirby Muxloe

Mission

The churches across the whole parish are united in supporting our associated local mission activities as part of God's greater mission for us all.

Details of events that are run in support of our mission both for and in the parish are included in our Community Events page. Below are details of the various mission related events.

Church Mission Society (CMS) Mission Partners

Diocese of Ruaha, Iringa, Tanzania

Ben and Katy Ray are CMS mission partners in training, preparing to go out to Tanzania to work with Neema Crafts, a project that provides crafts training for deaf and physically disabled people. The crafts are sold via their shop and website www.cms-shop.org.uk.

As a parish we are linked with Ben and Katy who will take up the management of Neema Crafts in 2011. They will use their design and education backgrounds to help continue and develop the holistic work of the project in the years to come.

Click here to learn more about the work Ben and Katy will be doing in Tanzania and also the work of CMS.

Details of Ben and Katy's progress and work in Tanzania will be regularly posted here so you can follow their progress.

Fareshare

Fareshare Leicester is one of the recipients of our parish giving this Christmas.

FareShare Leicester is currently a van franchise which supplies food to twenty one groups in Leicester and Leicestershire. They collects good quality surplus food and distributes it to support groups helping homeless, vulnerable and disadvantaged people. All the food complies with strict food hygiene and is within its use-by-date.

Most of the food comes from the FareShare UK depot in Birmingham but also from collections from local food stores and other outlets. Currently the volunteers are able to feed about 2,000 people a week.

Those who support FareShare see it as an excellent way of ensuring that good quality food finds its way to the mouths of those in need rather than it being dumped in landfill sites. They play a pivotal role in the waste strategies of suppliers by reducing the expensive business of waste removal whilst helping to protect the environment. This role is recognised not only by the Government but also the food industry, including the Food and Drink Federation.
