5th March 2011
On Friday 5th March, St Andrew's church was again filled with the sound of the award winning Enderby Youth Brass Band as they entertained the community with wonderful arrangements of a varied and eclectic mix of of music.
The band was lead and conducted by Chris Small who energetically demonstrated that physical fitness is just as vital as a keen musical ear to being a top class conductor.
The programme included the anticipated brass band marches and also contained arrangements following many popular film themes, including "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", "The Lord of the Rings", The Great Escape" and "Grease".
The evening also featured solos from Jack Rudkin with "Myfanwy", played on the euphonium, and Harry on drums playing "Fascinating Drums" and, later, "Hernando's Hideaway" on the maracas.
The inclusion of ever popular hymns in the repertoire completed a well rounded evening that was enjoyed by an enthusiastic audience, who demanded an encore. What a surprise when the band produced a rousing rendition of "Sex Bomb", so popular that they were called upon to play a second encore!!
We all look forward to joining the band at their next concert at St Andrew's early in 2012.
