'Open the Book' is about Christians going into schools to enable every child to hear the story of the Bible in their primary years. 'Open the Book' started in Bedfordshire and spread largely through word of mouth. There are now teams in many areas of the country presenting Bible stories, not sermons, during collective worship assemblies in their local schools. In the parish we have a team of ten people committed to presenting dramatised stories in the two primary schools in the parish, Kirby Muxloe Primary School and Stafford Leys Community Primary School, Leicester Forest East.
We aim to tell the stories in ways that enable children to engage imaginatively with the text and spend some time in quiet reflection. |
