The Parish Churches of Kirby Muxloe

Provision for Children's Worship

Godly Play

In this parish our children's work is delivered through "Godly Play".

Godly Play is a unique method of facilitating children's spiritual development.  A Bible story is told to the children while they sit quietly in a circle.  Following the story the children are encouraged to respond to the story through a variety of craft activities.  This is then followed by a "feast", a cup of juice and some fruit and biscuits, a few prayers are said and then the children depart.

Godly Play takes place at 9:30am on the second Sunday of each month at St Andrew's church. Please refer to our Calendar of Services for full details.

What makes Godly Play distinctive?

Godly Play is innovative.

Open the Book

'Open the Book' is about Christians going into schools to enable every child to hear the story of the Bible in their primary years.

'Open the Book' started in Bedfordshire and spread largely through word of mouth. There are now teams in many areas of the country presenting Bible stories, not sermons, during collective worship assemblies in their local schools.

In the parish we have a team of ten people committed to presenting dramatised stories in the two primary schools in the parish, Kirby Muxloe Primary School and Stafford Leys Community Primary School, Leicester Forest East.

We aim to tell the stories in ways that enable children to engage imaginatively with the text and spend some time in quiet reflection.

Bible Verse of the Day

1 John 4:18
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
